| SAFETY TIPS
Experts in the field of security and protection all agree that the best way to take charge of your safety is to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Criminals rarely put real thought into assault and other crimes. Almost never is their violence "person specific." They are looking for vulnerability, an "easy mark," someone whos is not aware of their surroundings. A well rehearsed plan of action can take you and your family off the target.
A constant awareness of you environment is the best weapon for guarding your personal safety. Always be alert to your surrounds whether in your car, on the street, or at home.
Always have a plan of action. Play a mental game of "what if..." where you would go and what you would do should a dangerous situation occur.
Trust you instincts. Research shows that a large percentage of people who have been assaulted had a feeling something was wrong just before they were attacked.
Don't wear headphone radios or other devices that would make it diffcult for you to sense an attacker. Be alert at all times.
If someone accosts you, yell "Fire" instead of "Help" or "Rape" because more people are likely to respond.
Be sure to shout that you do not know the assailant so bystanders do not mistake the encounter for a domestic quarrel. spy gear
AUTO/TRAVEL SAFETY TIPS
Keep your vehicel in good running order. Routine maintenance and replacement of worn parts in a timely manner will significantly decrease the possibility of breakdowns when you are least prepared.
Consider having a CB Radio or cellular phone installed in your vehicle. Often this is the quickest and safest means of alerting the police and emergency services that you are in need of assistance.
If your travel plans include an overnight or long distance driving, make sure you leave an itinerary of your trip with friends or family to let them know where you will be staying-including telephone numbers of overnight lodgings spy gear
Plan road trips carefully. Consider weather and driving conditions in relation to the condition of you automobile. Carry maps and familiarize yourself with the route you will travel before you leave.
Have an emergency kit including a working flashlight and jumper cables in the car at all times. Consider a first aid kit and emergency blanket as well.
Often a "Send Help" or "Please Call Police" sign for your windshield can be a valuable item if you are not able to get you vehicle going.
HOME SECURITY TIPS
Wherever you live, you'll want to make sure your home is a safe place when you're there...and a secure place when you're not.
When approaching your home, make certain you are alert to anything suspicious. If you suspect something is wrong, leave the area at once.
Keep the exterior of you house well lit.
Make sure the shrubbery against the house is thinned or pruned periodically to keep if from becoming a hiding place.
Do not depend on the automatic garage door closer to lock you garage. Unless locked, overhead doors cna be easily rolled up by an intruder.
If you are a single woman living alone, avoid publishing your first name in the telephone directory or listing it on your mailbox. Use an initial for your first name or consider adding a ficticious name to yours.
When planning a trip, remember to stop delivery of your mail and newspaper.
Buy a few timers or light-sensitive sockets that will light your house at night when you are not there.
When approaching your house from the ouside, do not fumble with your keys at the door. Make certain you have the key in your hand so that you can enter quickly.
If you receive suspicious calls, hang up. If the annoyance continues, contact the police and the telephone company.
When having your car serviced or valet parked, lock your glove compartment and give the attendant only your valet key. This prevents someone from making a copy of your full-use automobile key and other keys which may be on the normal keyring. (Remember: your home address is on the registration in your glove box.)
MORE, SAFETY TIPS
Especially important to pass down to young daughters...
Something like 99% of us will be exposed to or be an actual victim of a violent crime.
Here are some important tips:
Three reasons women are easy targets for random acts of violence are:
1. Lack of awareness (you MUST know where you are, what's going on around you.)
2. Body language (keep your head up, swing your arms, stand straight up)
3. Wrong place, wrong time (DON'T be walking alone in an alley, or driving in a bad neighborhood at night)
Women have tendency to get into their cars after shopping, eating, working, etc, and just sit (doing their checkbook, making a list, etc). DON'T DO THIS! The predator will be watching you, and this is the perfect opportunity for him to get in the passenger side, put a gun to you head, and tell you where to go. As soon as you get into you car, LOCK THE DOORS AND LEAVE>
A few notes about getting into your car in a parking lot, or parking garage:
BE AWARE: look around you, look into you car, at the passenger side floor, and in the back seat. Check under the car as well.
If you are parked next to a big van, enter your car from the passenger door. Most serial killers attack their victims by pulling them into their vans while the women are attempting to get into their cars.
Look at the car parked on the drivers side of your vehicle, and the passenger side. If a male is sitting alone in the seat nearest your car, you may want to walk back into the mall, or work, and get a guard/policeman to walk you back out. IT IS ALWAYS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.
ALWAYS take the elevator instead of the stairs. (Stairwells are horrible places to be alone.)
DO NOT get on an elevator is there is a weirdo already on there. (of course bad men don't always look bad).
DO NOT stand back in the corners of the elevator, be near the front, by the doors, ready to get off or on. spy gear
If you get on the elevator on the 25th floor, and the Boogie Man gets on at the 22nd, GET OFF when he gets on.
If the predator has a gun and you are not under his control. ALWAYS RUN! POLICE only make 4 of 10 shots when they are in range of 3-9 feet. This is due to stress. The predator will only hit you (a running target) 4 in 100 times. And even then, it most likely WILL NOT be a vital organ. RUN! spy gear
As women, we are always trying to be sympathetic: STOP IT, it may get you raped, or killed. Ted Bundy, the serial killer, was a good looking, well-educated man, who ALWAYS played on the sympathies of unsuspecting women. He walked with a cane, or a limp, and often asked "for help" into his vehicel or with his vehicle, which is when he abducted his next victim.
We hope these TIPS help, BE CAREFUL!! spy gear
